About the exam

 
ACT test was developed by the American College Testing Program. The ACT exam has four sections: Reading, English, Mathematics and Science. A maximum score is a 36. The ACT test is used to screen college applicants.

Who conducts the test?

ACT is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides more than a hundred assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas ofeducation and workforce development.

Eligibility

It is a screening test used by universities in the US to shortlist candidates.

Cost

The 2006–2007 basic registration fee is $29.00, which includes sending score reports to up to four college choices. The basic registration fee for the ACT Plus Writing is $43.00

What is the test structure?

The ACT duration is just over 4 hours without the Writing Test, including administration instructions and breaks. Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes, broken down as follows:

English: 45 minutes
Math: 60 minutes
Reading: 35 minutes
Science: 35 minutes

The ACT Writing Test adds 30 minutes to the testing time.

How long is my test score valid?

You can give the test as many times as you want, with certain date restrictions, and it is upto to you to send your preferred score.
